Notes for JOHANNES JOHN KUNKLE: The Kunkle Cemetery was on John Kunkle's farm, now a generating station is there. It was located about 6 miles up the road from Blairsville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania near Gordon School. Johannes will was written in 1835.

I John Kunkle, of Blacklick Township, Indiana County, being of sound memory and in good health but considering it expedient to settle my worldly affairs, do hereby ordain the following as for my Last Will and Testament.

FIRST: I desire all my Just debts to be paid as soon as conveniently be done after my decease.

SECONDLY: I give, devise and bequeath unto My Beloved Wife Mary should she be living at my decease as follows-Vis. The use of the little room back of the kitchen together with use of the kitchen in my house during life, and the use of such portion of the garden as she may see fit to occupy, and I give and bequeath unto her one bed and bedding-her spinning wheel and reel and sufficient furniture for her room, and sufficient kitchen utensils to enable her to cook her own food. Also her choice of my cows, - and as a condition of the subsequent devise to My Son William, he is to attend to her Cow and to furnish sufficient fodder and pasture and to deliver to My Wife annually during her natural, twelve bushels of wheat, - One hundred of weight of Bacon and sufficient Tea, Coffee and Sugar and such clothing as she may need, and to furnish sufficient fuel for her fire place, ready chopped at her door. The provisions to be delivered quarterly in advance.

ITEM THREE: In consideration of the foregoing and of the charges hereinafter imposed, I give and devise to my son William Kunkle, in fee simple the Land whereon I reside in Blacklick Township, Indiana County adjoining lands of Joseph Repine, William Dairs and Joseph Smith and others containing One Hundred and Fifty acres and allowances and more or less, - he paying unto my sons, John Henry and Jacob, their heirs or legal representatives, the sum of One Hundred dollars each, to be paid in four equal installments computing from my decease.

ITEM FOUR: I give, devise and bequeath the sum of Three Hundred dollars out of my personal estate, should so much remain after satisfying the before mentioned bequests- to be equally divided between My Daughters, Susan, Catherine, Mary, Betsy, and Hannah, and My Son Adam to be paid to them, and the legal representatives of each of them, as may be dead at my decease, provided that My said Daughter Catherine shall Marry again that then she shall have no part of the foregoing legacy, but the same shall be divided between my other four daughters and My Son Adam, All the said legacies to be paid one year after my decease, at which time my Daughter Catharine is to receive her legacy unless she shall have married again previous thereto.

ITEM FIVE: Should there remain and surplus of my personal estate after satisfying the before mentioned Devises and bequests, I give and devise the sam to My Sons, John, Henry, and Jacob to be equally divided amongst them and the legal representatives of such of them as may be dead, - such representatives to take such share only as my deceased son would have taken if alive.

ITEM SIX: I hereby nominate and appoint My Son John and Henry Kunkle to be executor of this My Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other Wills.

Notes for HANNAH KUNKLE: Mrs. Hannah Munshower Mrs. Hannah Munshower, widow of the late William Munshower, died at the home of her son, Harrison Munshower, Center Township, on last Sunday afternoon at 1. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon when the interment was made in Kunkle's graveyard, Center Township. Deceased waws one of the oldest ladies in the county, she being between 96 and 97. She has lived in this county all of her life and for about 72 years her home has been on the farm where she died. With her husband she took up her residence there when the county, and in fact nearly all of what now comprses the county, was a dense wilderness. As was the lot of the pioneer women of those days, Mrs. Munshower helped clear the land, till the soil and labor equally with the men of her community. Her husband has been dead many years, but she s survived by six children, as follows: John, of Clarion, Mrs. Mary Yingling, of St. Mary, Ohio, William, of Cookport; Samuel, of Indiana; Huston, of Blairsville and Harrison, of Center Township. For many years she was a member of the Lutheran church, and during the days of her activity she was a tireless worker in its interest. Rev J. W. Shaeffer, of the Lutheran church of Homer City, conducted the services at her funeral

Mrs. Rachel COOK, aged 77 years, wife of David Cook, died at her home in Cookport on Tuesday afternoon of last week. Death was due to paralysis, and resulted from a stroke sustained several days previous. Her husband and these children are living: Alexander, Zena, Jess, Earl, Mary, John and Elbie. Funeral services were held at the Cookport Methodist Episcopal Church Thursday afternoon and interment was made in the church cemetery.

Notes for PHILIP MIKESELL: Philip Mikesell was born on the homestead of his father, Dec. 22, 1821. He grew to manhood's estate under the parental roof, and followed agricultural pursuits during hi life with a large measure of profit. On May 1 1860 he married Emily Kunkle, daughter of John Kunkle, of Center Township, and both belonged to the Lutheran Church, and attended services at the Lutheran chapel near their home, which they had helped to build. They are buried in Greenwood Cemetery, in Indiana County. The following children were born to this most worhy couple: Simpson; Carrie, who married William Shank, of Coral; Christopher; Etta; who married W.C. Burke, of Coral; and a daughter who died in infancy.

Notes for ROBERT E. MIKESELL: ROBERT E. MIKESELL, postmaster and general merchant of Coral, Indiana County, was born in Center Township, this county, Dec. 24, 1868, son of Philip and Emily (Kunkle) Mikesell. His parental great-grandfather, a native of Germany, came to this county from the Fatherland during the early part of the last century. Adam Mikesell, grandfather of Robert E., came to Center Township at an early day, buying by patent 700 acres of land at what is now the site of the extensive coal operations of the Graceton Coke Company and the Joseph Wharton Coal Company. The towns of Graceton and Coral are both built on land taken up and improved by Adam Mikesell, whose operations along realty lines were very numerous and successful. He married Mary Bricker, a native of Pennsylvania, and their second son was Philip.

Robert E. Mikesell, son of Philip Mikesell, after leaving the farm entered mercantile life, and has continued to be a merchant ever since, having been thus engaged for about nine years. Since the town of Coral was organized he has been postmaster, still holding that responsibile office. When the Odd Fellows lodge was organized at Bell's Mills, now Josephine, he became a member; this lodge is now known as Blacklick No. 1156, and has a large membership. In religious belief he is a Methodist, while politically he is a Socialist and a warm and enthusiastic supporter of the principales of his party, leading many other Socialists in the neighborhood because of the study he gives to the subject which lies so near his heart.
