Iowa Munshower Family

"Cousin" Mike Munshower was nice enough to send me the following photographs of tombstones in Cemeteries he and his Dad Ron visited in Iowa. All of the following photographs are from Mike Munshower's line.

Edson Fayette Munshower born October 31, 1853 died October 17, 1912

He married Sarah Alice Dryden February 17, 1876. Mike asked if Sarah was not buried with Edson since there is no date of death. Something we will need to research.

Riverside Cemetery

The following photographs are Mike's Grandfather, Grandmother, Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother's tombstone's in Riverside Cemetery.

This is Mike's Great Grandfather's tombstone in Riverside Cemetery.

Melvin Dexter Munshower born February 14, 1885 and died May 22, 1951 he was married to Nellie Cox Munshower who was born May 22, 1884 and died February 1982 I did not receive a photograph of Nellie's tombstone.

Winfield Scott Township Cemetery, Winfield, IA Aug. 27, 2006

The following tombstones were found in the Winfield Scott Township Cemetery

Mike's Great Great Great Grandparent's tombstone.

Daniel Munshower born August 17, 1829 died February 15, 1905

Elizabeth Ann "Bevins" Munshower born January 17, 1825 and died February 11, 1912

Another photograph of Daniel and Eliza A. tombstone. I wanted to include this one because Mike and his Dad Ron were included.

Thomas Henry Bice born August 13, 1891 and died May 9, 1973 and his wife Inez Cora Springsteen born July 20, 1894 and died July 6, 1983. Thomas was the son of John Wesley and Ida Amanda "Munshower" Bice. Ida was the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Munshower.

George Amos Munshower born September 10, 1855 and died May 9, 1905 and his wife Rachel Adealia "Willis" Munshower born November 22, 1858 and died January 23, 1934. George A. is the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Ann and Mike Munshower's Great Great Grandparents.

This is believed to be Rachel "Willis" Munshower's parent's tombstone. As of now we have not proven this. Both Mike and I had Rachel's Mother's name as Louisa but Lavisa could be a translation of Louisa.

Charlotte Pearl "Lottie" "Munshower" born March 1890 and died 1963 and Oscar C. Swan born December 14, 1883 and died March 28, 1957. "Lottie" was the daughter of George A. and Rachel A. Munshower

This is believed to be Fletcher Swan infant son of Oscar C. and Charlotte "Lottie" Pearl "Munshower" Swan. "Lottie" was the daughter of George A. and Rachel A. Munshower. If this is Fletcher's tombstone he was born January 27, 1929 and the same day.

Twyla Maxine Swan born January 29, 1919 and died August 6, 1939 was the daughter of Oscar C and "Lottie" Swan.

James H. Crawford born 1880 and died 1900 and his wife Lula A. "Munshower" born June 1882 and died 1966. Lula A. was the daughter of Geroge Amos and Rachel Adealia "Willis" Munshower.

Norma June as her tombstone states was the daughter of James H. and Lula A. "Munshower" Crawford. Prior to Mike's visit to the cemeteries Norma June was unknown to us.

This is another undocumented child of James H. and Lula A Crawford. According to Mike this tombstone reads Raymond W. Crawford June 9, 1908 to Jan. 5, 1944 and references being a son of James and Lula.

Tombstone of John Wesley Bice born December 10, 1859 and died September 25, 1942 and his wife Ida Amanda "Munshower" Bice born September 27, 1864 and died June 30, 1926. Ida was the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Munshower Mike's Great Great Great Grandparents.

According to Mike most of these tombstones were located together which would signify they were all in a family plot. Mike did include some other photographs of tombstones that we could not connect. These were Crawford's tombstones and Mike feels they would be connected with Lula A. and James H. Crawford.

This is the entrance to Wapello Cemetery, Wapello, Iowa.  The photographs that follow are tombstones located there.

William Rex Munshower is the son of Edson Burris Munshower he was born July 22, 1917 and died October 31, 1969

Helen L. Munshower is the wife of William Rex I do not know anything about Helen. Mike said William Rex was a previously unknown son of Edson Burris. Edson Burris Munshower is the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Munshower.
